South Carolina Passes New Pregnancy Bias Law

On May 17, 2018, the South Carolina Pregnancy Accommodations Act (HB 3865) was passed and requires employers to provide protections and accommodations for pregnant employees, and requires employers to notify employees of their right to be free from discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions. The new notice requirement goes into effect immediately as to all new employees, and must be satisfied no later than September 14, 2018, for all existing employees.
