Iowa has passed a law that prohibits a city or county from adopting any ordinance, motion, resolution or amendment which provides a term or condition of employment that conflicts with state or federal law relating to a minimum or living wage rate, any form of employment leave, hiring practices, employment benefits, scheduling or other terms or conditions of employment. The law also provides that any local law passed prior to the act is void and unenforceable. Signed by the Governor on 3/30/17 and effective at that time.
